Rahami Mkaa

The project seeks to address environmental problem through application of coconut supply value chain challenges and opportunities for sustainable livelihood securities for coconut smallholder farmers at the grass root level taking into consideration environment concerns. Since environmental problem is a major concern worldwide that attributed by global warming, air pollution, waste disposal, ozone layer depletion, water pollution and climate change which is negatively impact every human, animal, plant, every nation and planet at large.

A notable impact of climate change which is mainly attributed by human activities such as cutting down trees for charcoal making. For example; Tanzania is one of the highest consumers of charcoal in the world. Two million tons of charcoal are consumed in Tanzania each year, with 50% of that used in Dar es Salaam. The demand for charcoal continues to rise despite the fact its use has led to massive increases in deforestation.

Rahami Mkaa provides the best alternative to a climate-conscious world where as they use coconut by products and convert them into charcoal that is friendly to the environment. Rahami Agriculture Investment ltd supplies coconut from mafia where as they harvest coconut from the trees coming up with a coconut inside a coconut husk. The husks are collected and shredded into small pieces then they are dried up in a drying host of the coconut shell charcoal making machine. In the drying host, the coconut shells go through the process of drying and flash steaming. After that they will fall down directly to the carbonization host, which is right under the drying host. Heating the carbonization host and make sure a high temperature inside of the host, so the process of decomposition will occur. During the process, coconut shells will be carbonized into charcoals and then after the procedures of cleansing, you will get clean charcoal.

Rahami Mkaa will greatly reduce the charcoal effect which not only affect the forests but also human health women being the major users. A tree that has not been completely been carbonized emits and pollutes the air which affects human lungs leading to airway diseases, also lead to red eye effects due to the emission of smoke from the charcoal.

Therefore Coco charcoal is environmental friendlywhereas they obliged to take full responsibility to conserve natural resources and protect global eco system to support health and wellbeing now and in the future. This is done since they recycle coconut shells into charcoal which burns hotter and longer than traditional charcoal it is 100% natural, no toxic chemicals and can be used as a fertilizer to avoid messy clean-up.
